Muleman, de kleinzoon van pachters, groeide op in Clarksdale, Mississippi \u2013 in de bakermat van de Delta. Op 19-jarige leeftijd belandde hij in Parchman Prison, dat was gemodelleerd naar een slavenplantage. Net als Leadbelly, R.L. Burnside en Bukka White, die Muleman daar voorgingen, leefde hij het onvoorstelbare gevangenisleven. Hoewel hij nooit een gitaar had opgepakt, nam David Kimbrough, de zoon van het legendarische bluesicoon Junior Kimbrough, Muleman onder zijn hoede en leerde hem de basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\">Mulemans aangeboren talenten en ge\u00efnspireerde ervaringen leverden hem een \u200b\u200bplek op in de legendarische Parchman Prison Band, wat de eerste keer was dat Muleman het voorprogramma deed voor B.B. King. Toen Muleman zijn tijd erop zat, zwoer hij om het negatieve om te zetten in iets positiefs. Hij heeft op elke dive- en juke-tent gespeeld en is opgeklommen tot hij op de hoofdpodia van festivals speelde en opnam met artiesten als Bobby Rush, Eric Gales en Earl &#8220;Peanutt&#8221; Montgomery \u2013 om er maar een paar te noemen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\">Muleman speelde andere shows \u2013 niet langer gekleed in gevangenisstrepen \u2013 met B.B. King op de affiche. Hij is erkend \u2013 en opgenomen door \u2013 de Library of Congress. Muleman levert altijd wanneer hij kan. Zijn volledige cirkelmomenten kwamen toen hij \u2013 vrijwillig \u2013 terugkeerde naar Parchman om andere gevangenen te helpen muzikale inspiratie te vinden. De gevangenis waar hij jarenlang geboeid zat, erkent Muleman nu met trots met zijn eigen Mississippi Blues Trail-markering bij de ingang.
