Computerwetenschapper Scott Fahlman van de Carnegie Mellon University zocht naar een manier om grapjes en cynisme op het digitale bulletinboard van de universiteit te onderscheiden van serieuze berichten. Hij stelde voor om de tekencombinaties <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83d\ude42\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t4c\/1\/16\/1f642.png\"> voor een blije toon en <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83d\ude41\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/tcb\/1\/16\/1f641.png\"> voor een serieuze of verdrietige lading te gebruiken. Dit idee sloeg snel aan binnen de academische wereld en verspreidde zich wereldwijd via het vroege internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/duivenstraat.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/huub-bammens-radio-duivenstraat-vandaag-2026-38-zaterdag-19-09-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9591\" srcset=\"https:\/\/duivenstraat.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/huub-bammens-radio-duivenstraat-vandaag-2026-38-zaterdag-19-09-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/duivenstraat.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/huub-bammens-radio-duivenstraat-vandaag-2026-38-zaterdag-19-09-1-300x190.jpg 300w, https:\/\/duivenstraat.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/huub-bammens-radio-duivenstraat-vandaag-2026-38-zaterdag-19-09-1-768x488.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Toen het gebruik van het internet en mobiele telefoons in de jaren negentig een vlucht nam, werden emoticons een onmisbaar onderdeel van de dagelijkse communicatie. Ze boden een eenvoudige manier om emotie, nuance en toon toe te voegen aan korte, geschreven berichten waarin lichaamstaal ontbrak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eind jaren 90 ontwierp de Japanse interface-ontwerper Shigetaka Kurita grafische varianten op deze tekstuele symbolen: de emoji. Terwijl emoticons bestaande leestekens combineren om van op de zij bekeken te worden, zijn emoji kleine illustraties van gezichten, objecten en symbolen. Vandaag de dag zijn beide vormen niet meer weg te denken en vormen ze een universele beeldtaal die dagelijks miljarden keren wereldwijd wordt gebruikt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>[bron en plaatje: Wikipedia &amp; Gemini]<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t57\/1\/16\/1f609.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\ude09\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1;width:16px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over dit en ander nieuws van deze zaterdag hoor je meer tussen negen en tien.
